If you’re dreaming of a "White Christmas" but prefer the white sand variety, Florida’s Space Coast is the place to be this December 2025.

Seriously, where else can you watch a rocket launch, see Santa shred some waves, and drink hot cocoa in 70-degree weather all in the same day? The vibe here is super laid-back, family-friendly, and just weird enough to be memorable.

Here is your rundown of the coolest events hitting the Space Coast in December 2025.

🏄‍♂️ The Headliner: Surfing Santas

When: December 24, 2025 (Christmas Eve Morning) Where: Minutemen Causeway, Cocoa Beach The Vibe: This is the ultimate Florida holiday tradition.

  • What it is: Hundreds of surfers dressed as Santa (or elves, or reindeer) paddling out to catch waves.

  • For Families: It’s a morning party! There’s usually live music, costume contests, and thousands of spectators cheering from the sand.

  • Pro Tip: Get there early (like 7:30 AM). Parking vanishes faster than holiday cookies.

When: Dec 19–30, 2025 (Select dates) The Vibe: High-tech holiday magic.

  • Kennedy Under the Stars (Dec 19-20): This is an after-hours ticketed event. Think "space disco" with a holiday twist—live DJs, cool lighting effects, and you get to walk around the Rocket Garden at night without the daytime crowds.

  • Holidays in Space (Dec 21-30): The visitor complex gets a festive makeover with massive decor. The highlight is usually the nighttime show—in past years it’s been a projection mapping show or a drone show that lights up the sky. It’s included with admission, so it’s a great way to end a day of space nerdery.

When: Throughout December The Vibe: Jungle bells! 🦓

  • Lights On: This is a newer, immersive nighttime art experience. It’s not just Christmas lights strung on trees; it’s moody, artistic, and features glowing animal sculptures.

  • Jolly Days (Dec 20–22): If you have younger kids, aim for these dates. The zoo keepers give the animals "gifts" (enrichment treats) to unwrap. Watching a meerkat tear into a wrapped box is peak entertainment.

  • Holiday Brunch (Dec 7): If you want to eat pancakes with Santa (and maybe a giraffe nearby), book this ASAP.

🛥️ The Boat Parade Circuit

If you’ve never seen a boat parade, you’re missing out. Locals deck their decks (literally) with thousands of lights and cruise down the river. It’s free and magical.

  • Cocoa Village Holiday Boat Parade: Friday, Dec 12. Grab a spot at Riverfront Park.

  • Cocoa Beach Christmas Boat Parade: Saturday, Dec 13. Best viewed from Sunset Café or just find a public spot along the Banana River.

🎄 Local Street Parties & Parades

  • Space Coast Holiday Food Fest (Dec 6): Head to Wickham Park in Melbourne. Everything on the menu is usually $5 or less (budget win!), plus there are craft vendors if you need last-minute gifts.

  • Merritt Island Holiday Parade (Dec 6): A classic hometown parade with floats, marching bands, and candy throwing.

  • Palm Bay Holiday Light Parade (Dec 6): If you’re further south, this is a huge one. It takes place at night so the floats are all glowing.
